Defining characters of this race are reduced stature and long hair. If at first Yorkshire Terrier-II were used for hunting rats at the end of this adorable puppy Victorian Era has become a popular pet. Breed name was originally “Broken-haired Scotch terrier”, but in the second half of the XIX century it was changed to “Yorkshire”, after the region where the first specimens were increased.

History

In mid 1800, workers in Scotland have migrated to the north of England and brought with them several species of small terrier them to hunt rats. Few exact data are known about the first copies. It is assumed however that the race came after selective mating terrier-parties brought in Scotland. Over time, Yorkshire Terrier have become increasingly popular and began breeding these dogs to participate in exhibitions profile.

The first specimen was a male star Huddersfiel named Ben; after, the dogs were set much of the current breed standards. Huddersfiel Ben, who died in 1871, was higher than today’s specimens, but by means of selection, at dimensions dog were reduced to current levels.

Appearance

Yorkshire Terriers weigh 3.5 kg and were within a long coat that “flow” in the middle of the head, back and tail. Most copies have fur colors dark blue-gray or black with shades of brown. Dog’s head is wide and the muzzle is medium length. Black or brown eyes and ears of the form letter “V” are held high. In the early race, dog’s tails were cut, but today they are long and held back a little above. As with most dogs recreational breed standards are precisely described in terms of coat color, body proportions and structure. Experts say the most important thing is to look at this dog or denote confidence and an air of importance.

Temperament

As part of the family terrier-parties, this quadruped is fearless and can be aggressive with foreign dogs, regardless of their size. Above-average intelligence of their Yorkshire Terrier is that these dogs can be trained easily, but equally, can be quite stubborn and naughty. These quadrupeds are active and friendly, as one of the most popular breeds of dogs. Due to the optimistic and the tail located permanently in motion, these dogs are nicknamed “cheerful cockers“. Characteristics of modern race began to develop from early nineteenth century. In 1874 the first list of examples of pure Cocker Spaniel was published by the newly established British Kennel Club. At the beginning of last century-ii Cocker Spaniel American English people developed branch of the race.

Lobular ears should reach the nose if they are pulled forward. The eyes are large, oval, dark and have a gentle but intelligent expression. The legs are relatively short, strong and arched and the tail is usually cut. Hair is medium length and ears, feet and bottom are good fur. Helped by stature, Chihuahua dogs can be transported easily and quickly adapts to new places. Although race is a very old Chihuahua dogs have become popular only in the twentieth century.

History

Both local folklore and archaeological discoveries attest that the Chihuahua breed has its origins in Mexico. One of the most accepted theories about the emergence of race say these dogs are descendants Techichi race, favorite pet of the Toltec civilization of Mexico. Historical data show that Techichi hunted in packs and have appeared in the Ninth Century. When the Toltec civilization was conquered by Astec, the latter thought Techichi had mystical powers. If the appearance was similar to the Chihuahua dogs today Techichi were much higher than the modern breed. It is believed that first appeared after Chihuahua Techichi dogs were crossed with small quadrupeds to South America by Spanish conquistadors. Chihuahua has become a very popular breed in the United States, as recognized by the American Kennel Club in 1904.

Appearance

Chihuahua is recognized as one of the world’s smallest dogs and breed standards do not mention a specific height for copies. As a result, the height of these dogs varies much more than other races. A Chihuahua can weigh between 1 and 2.5 kg. The body of a Chihuahua is quite solid and well shaped for dwarf stature. The head is shaped as apple; the ears are large, with slightly rounded tips. Dogs of this breed are framed in two varieties: with long hair and short hair. Chihuahua with long fur collar is rich and long yarn hair on the ears and the tail. The variety with short hair has a glossy fur, well attached to the body. In terms of colors, these include black, blue, white, red with white spots or dark.

Temperaments

Dogs of Chihuahua breed are very devoted and attaches usually only one in the family. Most specimens can be quite jealous in time for favorite person receiving care. They are very brave and protective of their owners. Enjoy a lot of attention. Chihuahuas are suspicious of outsiders and very good for security. Race is not recommended for families with young children or other pets for the quadruped are quite impulsive. However, Chihuahua dogs get along very well with specimens of the same race. When dogs feel threatened in the Chihuahua breed will not hesitate and try to bite. Because they are very stubborn, this quadruped can suffer from a conflict with a larger dog. Deviant behavior straightening is quite easy for these dogs respond well to training.

Features

Chihuahua is an ideal dog for apartment living in, not noisy. All movement needs a Chihuahua can do in the games. If these dogs, a coat is needed to wet and cold periods. Coat brushing must be done regularly than in the case of specimens with long hair. Chihuahuas live on average 15 years and females usually give birth within three chickens in a single task. Some of the most common health problems of Chihuahua dogs are non-closing complete of palate, excess water on the brain and incomplete development of the spinal cord.

It is true that our four-legged friends can eat things without problems but equally valid is the idea that a sudden change in diet may affect the dog’s main stomach and feeding habits of the animal. Changing diet for a dog must be done gradually over a period of at least four days.

In the first days of the change process should not give up all the old food. Fill bowl with dog food, old and three-quarters of new food quarter. We use this rate for another two days. After this first step, increase the half the amount of food bowl for the new puppy. Again keep the ratio of old and new food for at least two days. At this rate we will manage to change the dog’s diet without it having trouble accepting new ingredients. If we make the transition too abruptly dog will have cramps and heartburn. Also, indigestion, diarrhea, vomiting or simply refusing to eat means the effects of dietary changes too rapidly.

Many times people buy any dog food are on the market, thinking of the savings they can make. Even if we feel that we made a good choice putting some money aside, our dog is suffering. Indigestion, chronic diarrhea or a dainty dog food, are just three effects caused by the constant change of diet quadruped.

Dogs can develop habits and inadequate when it comes to feeding. Some dogs eat too fast and that may affect digestion. We try to spread the food on a school preventing him eat in a hurry. This method is valid only with food but dry. Another option would be to put a heavy ball in the middle of the food bowl so your dog will be forced to bypass the ball to eat. We can feed him slowly, the hand and teach him that no matter how soon page still bolt portion will have to wait for the next.

Another of the dogs is often unpleasant to the food in various parts of the house. Depending on where they take food out why we can do this. If you come near us, it means he wants to eat in our company, so all we can do is to feed the dog at the same time that we eat.

Often in homes where there are many dogs tend to let him to eat whenever you feel the need. Some dogs, who do not know when to stop, it can feed freely without having any kind of problem with weight. But if those are not so fortunate have to limit access to food. Can we leave food available in halves of 20 minutes at a distance of several hours, and when we believe that eating enough; do not feed him in that day.

If the dog refuses to eat without an easily identifiable reason (quadruped is picky about food, housing or diet change) then you have to go with the pet to the vet. Refusal to eat can be a sign of health problems.

An important thing to remember in setting the age at which a dog may be considered old is its size, because the large aging faster than small ones. Animals are considered old by the age of 7-8 years. In a much faster rate than humans, puppies turn into dogs and then the old “no longer run by the bat or ball but prefers to stay obedient to its master’s feet”.

What to do now? First you must know that they need different care than that so far, but also a lot of attention and a lot more time on your part. An ally will be your veterinarian who can advise and counsel both in terms of diet and regime of movement and, if necessary, medication.

In terms of nutrition, an older dog does not need the same calorie and young. Now is ideal low-fat nutrition. Be aware that all veterinarians can recommend the best diet for the pet, because puppies need more calories than old dogs, while the latter needs more fiber and essential elements such as proteins. And that for proper that as dogs get older they move less and slower, so I do not need the same type of food that when you were young and very active.

Along with age and loss of mobility, the dog becomes sensitive to cold and moisture. So they must be given greater care as the place where the dog sleeps or spends most of his time to be dry and warm. Also took care of the animal must not be left in power, not to be cold when out walking, not wet and not sit with wet paws, its not raining or be dry as soon as possible.

The best way to be sure that your friend is not suffering consulting veterinarian to achieve periodic analysis that can be detected any problem in time. These tests should include a urine analysis to ensure that animal kidneys working properly, an analysis of the seat, which will be made to ensure that they keep a balance in the body balanced enzymes, but also to verify the existence parasites house. Blood testing is done to see if blood cells and if there is sufficient cause abnormalities in the body, and ECG tests and chest radiography are the doctor may be able to ensure that the heart works properly.

Thus any deficiency may be identifiable in advance and to take measures necessary to prevent the worsening situation, the veterinarian advising you what to do, including here is a long-term medication or a change in diet. It is possible that these measures are turning to additional costs for maintenance dog, but in a lot of patience on your part. Think of the entire animal can not only ensure a longer life and quality of it.

In terms of health problems that occur for old dogs, most often loss of appetite, temperature and digestion problems. Taking into account that eating is one of the favorite activities of dogs, loss of appetite can be one of the first signs that your pet is approaching old age. The explanation is because taste and smell of fall, and food is not as appetizing. Before the fair conclusion that loss of appetite is due to aging, you must ensure that it is not caused by a health problem because of tooth pain or ulcers can form the basis for reducing appetite. Also, if the dog takes drugs, consider that some pills decrease your appetite.

If you are health problems which cause reduced interest in food, are some ways you can increase the dog’s desire to eat. One of these involves changing your diet, by introducing new dog food menu. Start by gradually adding salt-free chicken broth or beef and some vegetables slightly cooked in a dog bowl, as some old animals appreciate food more liquid. Just add new food gradually to avoid digestive problems. You can also heat food, so it to attract the dog by the smell and taste more intense.

Remember, that if the appetite is lost suddenly, perhaps it is a serious disease, and medical consultation is required if the animal refuses to eat a full day or more. The same if its appetite gradually decreases and stops at a dangerous level.
